Home Visits
Doctors will visit patients who are housebound or too ill to attend the Surgery.
Requests for home visits should be made before 10:00am, if possible, to enable doctors to plan their day.
Receptionists will ask for brief details of your symptoms to allow the doctor to determine the urgency of the call and to decide if there is any need for special equipment or drugs.
Please understand they are specifically instructed to do this, however, if you feel the information is too personal you may ask to speak to the doctor.
On average it takes approximately forty minutes, in travel and consultation time, to complete each home visit, which is equivalent to four appointments in the surgery, so we would ask patients not to request home visits unless it is absolutely essential.
Leaving the house with a cough, cold or a temperature is not normally harmful, even in children and any tests required are much easier to arrange in the surgery.
